Gia Mainiero
A born-and-raised New Yorker, Gia Mainiero has always been captivated by the intricate and interrelated systems that make urban life possible. Her determination to garner a big picture understanding of how things work has led her to manage many of the firm’s infrastructure and transportation projects as well as our Alternative Delivery work. She has been leading Dattner Architects’ largest Design-Build project, the Ground Transportation Center at JFK Airport.
Gia strives to provoke others to notice and engage with vital, yet often underappreciated services and building types. Her young daughter has bolstered her passion for public architecture and strengthened her commitment to creating inspiring, sustainable infrastructure for future generations.
A DBIA certified professional, Gia currently serves as Vice Chair of the Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) National Design Professionals Committee. In her previous term on the committee, she chaired the Design Excellence Subcommittee and spearheaded the update of DBIA’s Design Excellence Position Statement. Gia also serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors for Professional Women in Construction NY.
Gia holds a Bachelor of Architecture from The Cooper Union, Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture.
