A caesura is a break in a line of poetry or music. Caesura, the residence, offers a sanctuary from the intensity of urban life. A distinctively modern, human-scaled building that stands out from the surrounding high-rise buildings, Caesura anchors a key corner in downtown Brooklyn’s cultural district. The building’s innovative program includes furnished micro-units, a yoga studio, and a lending library of household goods.
Situated across from the Brooklyn Academy of Music Opera House, and next to the Mark Morris Dance Center and Theater for a New Audience—Caesura adds to the cultural diversity of the neighborhood. The mixed-use building houses the Center for Fiction, where readers and writers share their passion for literature, rehearsal studios for Mark Morris Dance Center, and retail space fronting on the Arts Plaza. Extensive glazing at the lower floors highlights the available cultural components and activates the pedestrian experience.
